In an unexpected turn of events, a recent incident in Ward 30, situated along the banks of the Mandovi River, has raised concerns regarding the safety of ongoing road excavation projects. The loose soil in the area is prone to waterlogging during high tides, necessitating utmost precautions during further excavation.

Councillor Sandra Maria Da Cunha, representing Ward 30, has promptly conveyed her concerns to Smart City officials, urging them to immediately halt the ongoing work and prioritize road restoration. Safety measures are of paramount importance, as no worker should be exposed to such risks.

Furthermore, Councillor Da Cunha has proposed an alternative approach, suggesting that the sewerage line be installed using trenchless methods to avoid any digging that could exacerbate the situation. She has also requested the deployment of traffic personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the day, as the road has been witnessing chaos. Additionally, she has emphasized the need for proper signage at key junctions to minimize inconvenience to the public.

MLA Atanasio Monserrate, a steadfast supporter of the community, has pledged his full support and cooperation to address the grievances of the people of Ribandar. Together, with the local leadership and concerned officials, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents of Ward 30 and addressing their concerns effectively.
