On August 1, 2023, a successful operation led by Bicholim Police Station staff, under the supervision of SDPO Sagar Ekoskar, resulted in the arrest of Faizan Sayyad, the prime accused in the Bicholim P.S. Crime No. 80/2023 involving a gold mangalsutra snatching incident. Faizan Sayyad, 24, a resident of Curtorim, Goa, was apprehended in Navelim-Surla area while attempting to commit another chain-snatching offense with his associate. However, his accomplice managed to escape, leaving Faizan behind.
Faizan has also confessed to his involvement in a similar incident on July 27, 2023, in Mulgao Bicholim, where he and his associate snatched a gold mangalsutra weighing 1.400 grams from an elderly woman. Investigations have revealed Faizan’s extensive criminal history, with past involvements in theft cases across various parts of Goa, including Pernem, Panaji, Madel-Mapusa, Porvorim, among others.
The police continue their search for Faizan’s absconding associate, along with the stolen property and the motorcycle used in the commission of the crimes.
