Mormugao MLA Calls for Key Improvements in Public Services during the demands on Home, Fire Service, Public Works & Jails.

Porvorim: During the assembly session on August 7, 2024, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar supported various demands while opposing cut motions, highlighting critical issues across several departments.

Home Department: Amonkar thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for establishing a police beat post at Baina, improving law and order in the area. He praised the Goa Police Football team for their historic win in the 1st Division Football League and called for recognition and further support for the team. He also emphasized the urgent need for maintenance work at Mormugao Police Station and repairs to the dilapidated Baina Police Out Post.

Home Guards & Civil Defence: Amonkar urged the absorption of 57 long-serving Home Guard volunteers into the Goa Police as constables, recognizing their decade-long voluntary service.

Police Department: Amonkar commended the Goa Police for their dedication and efficiency. He stressed the need for increased patrolling in Mormugao to curb anti-social activities and protect senior citizens.

Jail Department: With the Sub Jail at Sada deemed unsafe, Amonkar proposed repurposing the facility for drone training and handling technology, reflecting modern security needs.

PWD (Public Works Department): Amonkar highlighted irregular water supply issues in Mormugao and requested expedited approval for the construction of new water reservoirs. He also noted the need for additional maintenance staff and urged the demolition of unused, hazardous PWD buildings. Further, he called for urgent completion of infrastructure projects under the MLA-LAD Scheme and addressed the necessity of more staff for the smooth functioning of the PWD.
