On July 26, 2024, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar addressed the Assembly to support the demands and oppose the cut motions for the day.
Demand No. 64: Agriculture
Amonkar commended Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik for establishing the Zonal Agriculture Office in Cortalim, benefiting farmers in Mormugao Taluka. He thanked the Agriculture Minister for providing fruit-bearing tree saplings to the constituency and requested support for developing kitchen gardening initiatives, including training and technical guidance.
Amonkar also emphasized the need for more horticulture outlets to provide employment and subsidized vegetables to the public, addressing rising vegetable prices.
Demand No. 70: Civil Supplies
Amonkar praised the progress made by Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Ravi Naik, particularly the registration of 152 Fair Price Shop dealers with Common Service Centres to deliver e-services to rural areas. He highlighted the benefits of Aadhaar seeding and online ration card services in reducing corruption and easing access to services.
He requested an increase in rice and wheat quotas for APL cardholders and higher commissions for Fair Price Shop dealers, considering rising operational costs. He also called for abolishing the POS machine rent and addressing staff shortages in the Civil Supplies office in Mormugao.
Demand No. 69: Handicraft, Textile, and Coir
Amonkar urged the government to conduct training for women in Mormugao interested in handicraft courses, empowering them to become self-reliant. He also requested subsidies for new equipment and modern machinery to support their handicraft work.
