Porvorim: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar addressed several important demands on the floor of the house during the monsoon assembly session. Speaking on Demand No. 58, Amonkar expressed gratitude to the Hon. Minister for Women & Child Development for promptly responding to his Legislative Assembly Question (LAQ) and providing a list of pending Griha Aadhar and Laadli Laxmi cases in the Mormugao constituency. He urged the minister to expedite the approval of verified applications and resolve cases pending for over five years due to missing documents.
Amonkar also called for the regularization of 30 Field Assistants employed on a contract basis since 2016 under the Directorate of Women & Child Development. He proposed that compliance issues for Griha Aadhar beneficiaries be handled at the taluka level to avoid travel to Panaji.
Further, Amonkar advocated for increasing the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers, extending benefits like ESI and PF, and utilizing unused classrooms in government schools for Anganwadis.
On Demand No. 54, related to Town & Country Planning, Amonkar raised concerns about the mandatory Naval NOC requirement for construction in the Mormugao taluka, which causes significant delays. He urged the government to reconsider or waive this requirement.
Addressing Demand No. 55, Amonkar called for the immediate operationalization of the Mormugao Municipal Complex at Headland Sada, including resolving water connection issues and providing space for people with disabilities and self-help groups. He also highlighted the need to regularize 72 daily wage workers at the Mormugao Municipal Council.
Regarding Demand No. 68, Amonkar emphasized the need to regularize daily wage workers and animal rescuers under the Forest Department, provide them with travel allowances, and establish a new Range Forest Office in Mormugao taluka. He also called for the development of the Japanese Garden at Headland Sada, including the addition of a children’s park.
Amonkar’s comprehensive address highlighted critical issues affecting his constituency and called for prompt government action to address them.
