Margao – 3 days after Chief Minister of Goa appealed to youths to develop leadership qualities, 70 year old Digambar Kamat is selected as Chairman of Margao Shigmotsav Samiti. Either Margao Municipal Council has mocked Dr. Pramod Sawant’s appeal or Chairmanship is Rehabilitation of Cabinet Berth Aspirant or this an attempt to sideline Bhandari Samaj Councillor Siddhant Gadekar, charged Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.
Reacting to the selection of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat a Chairman of Margao Shigmotsav Committee, Prabhav Naik slammed Margao MLA for his self promotion and anti-youth mindset.
Shigmotsav in Goa is basically a Festival of Bahujan Samaj and Youths. One of the Councillor of Margao Siddhant Gadekar is a reupted Artist. I have information that most Councillors wanted him to be the Chairman, but Margao MLA bulldozed his name in a way depriving a Bhandari Samaj youth to head Shigmotsav Samiti, alleged Prabhav Naik.
I will write a Letter to the Chairperson of Margao Municial Council as well as to the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte demanding that youths should be given opportunities to head all such Committees. I will also demand that Government must completely do away with Nepotism in government organised events, stated Prabhav Naik.
I hope better sense will prevail and Margao MLA will allow an eligible young Councillor Siddhant Gadekar to be the Chairman of Margao Shigmotsav Samiti. I am also aware that pressure tactics will be used to compel Malbhat Councillor to speak in favour of Margao MLA, claimed Digambar Kamat.
It is really disgusting to see a person who was once Chief Minister of Goa stooping so low and denying youths to be part of festival committees like Shigmotsav. Madgaonkars are watching the dirty tricks and will teach him a lesson in 2027, said Prabhav Naik.
