Panaji, May 21 : Goa Minister Sudhin Dhavalikar announced on Tuesday that the infrastructure setup for the Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Limited (GTTPL) will be completed by August this year.
Speaking to reporters, the state power minister mentioned that 90 percent of the work on the power project in Goa has been finished, with the remaining work expected to be done within the next three months.
Dhavalikar noted that the current power requirement for Goa is 820 MW and will continue to rise in the coming years. “Goa’s power requirement is projected to grow by 100 MW annually, necessitating an additional 300-400 MW in the next three to four years,” he stated.
The infrastructure is being prepared to support a 1,200 MW capacity under the GTTPL. This inter-state transmission system project aims to provide an additional power source for the coastal state.
However, the minister pointed out that the project’s progress in Karnataka has encountered obstacles, despite the Supreme Court’s clearance. He emphasized that Karnataka needs to adopt a “positive point of view” towards the project.
It is worth noting that the Karnataka government previously rejected the GTTPL proposal recommended by its officials.
