India Guarantees No Hegemony in Indian Ocean Region Amidst China’s Aggression: Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India

Panaji: Addressing concerns over China’s assertive actions in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted India’s commitment to preventing any single power from dominating the area.

Singh emphasized India’s strategic approach in safeguarding the autonomy and sovereignty of neighboring countries in the Indian Ocean, underscoring the nation’s pivotal role as the first responder and preferred security partner in the region.

During his visit to Goa, Singh inaugurated the Naval War College’s new Administrative & Training building, named ‘Chola’, in tribute to India’s maritime heritage. He commended the Indian Navy’s efforts in providing assistance to littoral countries during times of crisis.

Singh highlighted the Navy’s role in maintaining stability in the IOR, ensuring that no country exercises overwhelming dominance, and fostering an environment of peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

He emphasized that India’s naval strength serves not only as a deterrent against adversaries but also contributes to the security of stakeholders in the Indian Ocean, aligning with the nation’s commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
