On October 28, 2024, FDA officials conducted an inspection drive across Salcete, targeting sweets and farsan manufacturers and the Margao KTC bus stand. At the bus stand, two bags containing 12 kg of improperly labeled khoa, transported without proper storage, were seized and disposed of for public health, valued at approximately Rs. 38,400. Additionally, improperly transported Agra Petha (16 kg) and Bombay Halwa (30 kg) cartons, stored in the bus’s luggage compartment and lacking FSSAI labeling, were found with newspaper impressions on the food. This stock, worth Rs. 18,000, was voluntarily destroyed by the operator in the interest of public health, bringing the total seized goods to Rs. 56,400.

The FDA also inspected a restaurant in Malbhat and issued a compliance notice for deficiencies. Another inspection was conducted at a manufacturing unit in Mandopa, Navelim, and at a restaurant in Commercial Plaza, where compliance directives were issued following complaints. FDA Director Shweta Dessai stated that these inspection drives will continue through the festive season to ensure public safety.
