Benaulim youth leader Warren Alemao has alleged large-scale corruption in the Water Resources Department (WRD), accusing Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas, WRD officials, and contractors of misusing public funds.
Alemao has filed complaints with the Vigilance Department, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Crime Branch Department, and Lokayukta, demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities.
He further alleged that Sai Malkanekar, the Personal Secretary and Driver of MLA Venzy Viegas—who previously operated an illegal scrapyard in Benaulim—now controls two companies, Malkanekar Traders and Nutan Gooalkrishna Prabhu Malkanekar, registered under his mother’s name. According to Alemao, these firms have been unfairly awarded WRD contracts through favoritism.
Highlighting the absence of a Lokayukta judge, Alemao announced his plan to file a writ petition in the High Court, seeking judicial intervention. He has demanded the cancellation of the alleged fraudulent contracts, immediate arrests, and strict prosecution of those involved.
“The time for change has come,” Alemao asserted, vowing to fight against corruption.
