The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) carried out its second major raid in Anjuna within 24 hours, arresting a South Indian man in possession of narcotics valued at ₹2.5 lakhs. The seized contraband included cocaine, charas, and a significant amount of the potent hallucinogen DMT (Dimethyltryptamine).

Following a major LSD bust earlier in the week, the ANC, during interrogations, identified one of the suspect’s contacts living near German Bakery in Anjuna. Acting on this lead, the ANC set up a trap and apprehended the accused, a man in his early 30s, who was found with variable quantities of cocaine and charas. The raid’s biggest revelation was the discovery of a commercial quantity of DMT, a powerful synthetic hallucinogen, with 2 grams being classified as a commercial quantity.

DMT is commonly used in spiritual ceremonies, such as the Ayahuasca ceremony, where it is mixed with herbs and administered either orally or through inhalation. The ANC has urged locals to stay vigilant about such gatherings and advertisements, warning of the drug’s potency, as just one gram can cause hallucinations for up to 20 people.

The arrested individual has been residing in Goa for the past 10 years and was previously involved in an LSD-related case in his native state. The raid was conducted under the supervision of PI Sajith Pillai, DySP Nerlon Albuquerque, and SP Tikam Singh Verma, with PSI Dindayal Redkar and his team playing a key role in the operation.
