Panaji, July 2 – Venzy Viegas, AAP’s Benaulim MLA, demanded the suspension of a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) stationed at Colva police station in South Goa for allegedly assaulting a woman and forcing her to lick his boots.

Viegas stated that the PSI allegedly assaulted the woman, who had come to the police station to file a complaint. Accompanied by Viegas, the woman filed a police complaint against the PSI on Tuesday.

“The PSI brutally hit the woman and asked her to lick his boot if she wanted to save her husband. My concern is how a male police officer can treat a woman like this? Who gave him the authority?” Viegas questioned.

He emphasized the need for immediate action and accountability within the police force, reaffirming AAP’s commitment to justice and the protection of women’s rights.

“The party will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that appropriate measures are taken against any misconduct within the police force,” he added.

This incident follows a similar case last August, where Goa Police dismissed constable Vikas Kaushik after Viegas alleged he extorted businessmen and assisted a chain snatcher. Viegas had raised the issue during the monsoon assembly session, leading to the constable’s suspension.
